The website is a showcase of their relentless efforts to solve some of the world’s most intractable health challenges.
About the project
Background & Goals
A few years after twistbioscience.com was launched, Twist wanted to create a designated website for one of their strongest of most meaningful decisions - Twist Biopharma.
The goal was to keep the same layout and structure that already exist on the main site, including all content editing capabilities, and only perform style changes.
Implementation
In order to accomplish to goals above, we've turned the main site into a multisite and added twistbiopharma as its subsite. We've created a new DB for the subsite, cleaned all unnecessary data models from it, and kept it lean and scope-accurate.
In addition, we've created a new theme that inherited the main theme, in order to implement the styles override. On top of that, a new config folder was created to support any unique configs this subsite has.
Outcome
The final result was a subsite with the look and feel of a standalone, that enjoys every new development that is taking place on the main site, has its very own content control, and an accurate design that provides the necessary brand appearance,
Why Drupal was chosen
As Twist Biopharma is a division of Twist bioscience, so is their website.
twistbiopharma.com is a subsite of twistbioscience.com that is created using a multisite architecture. Both sites are sharing the same database, hence, can use the same components and basic theme, yet both have designated config files and custom theme for necessary overrides.
The selection of Drupal was due to the desire to enjoy all the multisite capabilities detailed above, while keeping customization minimum.
