Organizations Involved

Erickson Living opened its first senior living community in 1983 outside of Baltimore, Md. Today, 35 years later, Erickson Living has expanded into a national network of 19 retirement communities in 11 states that serve 24,800 senior residents.

A key component within the backbone of Erickson Living is its support system of more than 14,000 employees, who are committed to living up to the company’s mantra of “add more living to your life.” Inclind was asked to improve Erickson Living’s job search, listings and application system to ensure that the right employees are hired for the team to uphold that mission.

About the project

Inclind first partnered with Erickson Living to migrate to Drupal four years ago, which properly showcased their thousands of web content items (articles, photos, media, forms, etc.) on a new, more robust Drupal content management system. Round two consisted of another website design update, when Erickson Living recruited Inclind to tweak ericksonliving.com for an even better user experience.

For Inclind’s most recent project partnership with Erickson Living, the web development agency needed to replicate the existing functionality of Taleo, Erickson Living’s current job listings system, and to implement an updated front-end design. Taleo didn’t allow Erickson Living the ability to edit the site, forcing staff to email the vendor to make any changes. By overriding the system with Drupal’s CMS, Inclind opened the virtual door to give content editors access to update more features on the site. Inclind also utilized the paragraph function for easier editing of more custom features.

“We feel like we can always count on Inclind and really like all their teammates personally.”

Why Drupal was chosen

Erickson Living already had its main website built on Drupal 7, so choosing Drupal 8 for the job site aligned with current architectures in place.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

Solr search was implemented to make it easier for job seekers to find open positions and search by location, category and keyword. We also employed a custom integration with LinkedIn, which searches for jobs matching your industry within the website.

Inclind utilized Drupal’s paragraph function for easier editing of more custom features.

We applied Drupal’s feeds framework to facilitate the import of job listings on a daily basis. By utilizing feeds, we were able to reliably obtain the job listings with a proven framework.
