Business Opportunity
The client was facing multiple issues with the existing site which was developed in Word Press & other frameworks with no rules laid out for the code standardization. The current site was not a device responsive, the load time of the site was more than 9 seconds etc., and there were new additional features that the client wanted in the redesigned site:
1. SOLR search implementation.
2. More control over the welcome ad and other ads on the site from the Drupal back-end.
3. Curation functionality of the content on the Home and individual topic pages.
4. Targeting and Anti-targeting the welcome ad on a specific page.
5. Display and managing the Sponsored Content.
6. Panel has been used for customizing the site layout on Node and Taxonomy level.
Outcome
After considering the nature of the project, we proposed to re-build the complete solution by using Drupal 7 and the upgraded to version 8. This proves the best solution as the code standardization was achieved by Drupal’s Multisite feature. We have used Bootstrap 3.x as the framework and redesigned the entire site in device responsive.
Why Drupal was chosen
- Drupal’s is most suitable for this project.
- In the new redesign site, Drupal Blocks are dynamically appearing using the panel module. The Panel module allows a site administrator to create customized layouts for multiple uses. We have dynamically overwritten the system pages such as taxonomy, node page etc., so that site administrator can customize the layout of the site.
- A custom search filter has been used.
- Drupal Block has been used to create Sponsored Content and to Place the Ads with content.
- Drupal 7 provides enhanced Security features.
- Drupal API provides to migrate data from another source to MySQL and vice versa.

Entity API: This module contains improvements and extensions to the Drupal 8 Entity system.
Search API Solr Search: This module provides an implementation of the Search API which uses an Apache SOLR search server for indexing and searching.
Secure Login: Secure Login module ensures that the user login and other forms are submitted securely via HTTPS, thus preventing passwords and other private user data from being transmitted in the clear.
