Organizations Involved

The marketing team at the Butler County Visitors Bureau (BCVB) works hard to promote this Ohio county, outside of Cincinnati, as a tourism destination for food and drink, events and attractions but their website was getting outdated, making their job more challenging.

BCVB decided to make a move from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8 to gain more flexibility in content management while getting a new front-facing design that is modern and mobile-optimized.

Inclind met expectations, leading to positive feedback internally. Their independent approach to the engagement significantly benefitted the project.

About the project

Project goals were as follows:
New Design
The project was very focused on creating a website that reflected modern tourism design trends while improving the mobile user experience.

User-Generated Content
BCVB wanted to take advantage of user-generated content with a prominent Instagram feed..

New Events Calendar
BCVB wanted a new event calendar that was easy to navigate and properly displayed repeating events, which their current website was unable to facilitate.

Drive Traffic and Engage Visitors
Another goal of the redesign was improving organic traffic and getting users to the right content to lower bounce rates and increase sessions.

Better Content Control
Content management flexibility was priority one so they could rotate seasonal information, promote featured content and show related content so visitors can keep moving through the site without hitting dead-ends.

The result is a fresh design focusing on big visuals, better mobile experiences and more control for the content managers.

Why Drupal was chosen

BCVBโ€™s website was on Drupal 7 and the team wanted to stay on the Drupal platform but upgrade to take advantage of newer features.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

The website was migrated from Drupal 7 into a custom Drupal 8 theme with Layout Builder to allow for content managers to create custom layouts and custom SimpleView integration to store tourism partner information (hotels, restaurants, etc).
