La Manga Club is an exclusive holiday, sports and leisure resort located in a privileged setting bordered by natural parks and unspoilt beaches, offering luxury, leisure and sport with wonderful weather all year round.

Covering an area of 1400 acres (560 Ha.), the resort offers exclusive accommodation, first-class professional sports facilities and fine dining, ideal for those seeking exceptional tranquillity, security and privacy, coupled with superlative service.

Ever since it opened in 1972, La Manga Club has attracted holidaymakers and sports teams its outstanding facilities, all designed to the highest international standards. These include:

a five-star hotel
a four-star apartment-hotel
three golf courses
a 28-court tennis centre
eight FIFA-standard football pitches
2,000m2 Wellness Centre

When La Manga Club arrived to our office they had a great problem. The web was developed in Joomla and it was old and had several problems. They needed a change to a platform more stable and with a more scalable architecture, as well as a new and more modern and responsive design.

La Manga Club came to us motivated from our positive reputation and our experience as Drupal developers.

About the project

The central goal of this project was to make the transition between the original site on Joomla to Drupal. This implies a complete migration of all the content and features and also integrate the system with the booking engine. It was a great challenge!

Why Drupal was chosen

The main reason to use Drupal in this project was that the client needed a real change after using Joomla towards a mature and flexible technology that would be able to adapt to their current needs and to their future needs: a website that could grow with the company and with their progressive business levels (scalability).

Specifically:

Scalability: Drupal is capable of handling both peak traffic and regular high volume traffic flows.
Security: Drupal has a dedicated Security Team working on security patches, not to mention a whole community of more than 1 million users who report bugs and security threats on drupal.org.
Multi language: Drupal is a platform completely prepared to multilingual sites and I18N was a MUST in this project.
Customization: Drupal has very few limitations to meet the needs of a company.
Flexibility: Authors, editors, translators, site administrators and developers can use Drupal to meet their needs, through a workflow that gives them access only to the features they need.

In general terms:

Agility to business: new features are added more quickly than you would expect with other CMS, allowing companies to quickly adapt to changes in the market and environment in a productive and profitable way.
Integration capacity: This is one of the most important things that makes Drupal great: it fits within your business ecosystem.

Accessibility: Drupal is by far the most accessible CMS, since it integrates accessibility standards in the core code.
