Introduction & About The Client

Our client is a network creation platform that uses blockchain to build integrated business ecosystems that have multiple enterprise applications. They deliver customer-centric agility and resilience for end-to-end supply networks while leveraging the collective intelligence of an entire industry. Their platform facilitates speed of innovation and implementation through an open partner model for no-code and low-code development of solutions and applications.

About the project

The client wanted to:

  • Launch their new platform and related Supply Chain Work Management solutions.
  • Website redesign and re-platform into a front-end web application built on the right information architecture that can deliver a fully harmonized and seamless user experience.
  • Migrate website from existing CMS to Drupal. 
  • Realign existing website content structure with the Drupal CMS structure, including significant content migration.
  • Empower content creators with tools to create custom templates and page layouts, without developer-dependency.

Our Solution:

We worked closely with the client team in the discovery phase to understand their needs on a granular-level and our solution included:

  • Migrating their existing website to Drupal and launching  it on Acquia Cloud. 
  • Designing the content architecture, simplifying user onboarding, and developing custom pages for the website.
  • Retheming, and building the content infrastructure for a unified experience across their applications.
  • Integrating back-end with Marketo and Salesforce to achieve data consistency that can facilitate performance marketing, demand generation, and customer support capabilities.

Outcome:

We migrated the client’s website to Drupal 9 and Acquia within the stipulated timeline of 6 weeks. Notable benefits include:

  • Executed a market-ready website within 6 weeks.
  • Enhanced the authoring experience and workflows for authors and empowered them to seamlessly create and manage content faster, even with negligible experience. 
  • Enabled creation of custom templates and landing pages, without developer assistance. The additional integrations allowed admins to manage customer data consistently at the backend to provide a better user experience.
  • Offers unified experience across applications and business tools.
  • Enhanced the ability to drive greater, more contextualized user engagement on the website with easy navigation to educational content, community programs, and much more. 

Why Drupal was chosen

The client aimed to migrate their existing website to a platform that offered easy website maintenance and also ensured hassle-free content management. With Acquia products’ out-of-the-box features, we were able to ensure a fast, secure, and timely migration and were able to adhere to the stringent project timeline. Acquia product portfolio was utilized in the following ways: 

  • Content migration was automated partly, with manual migration of only complex content from the existing website to Drupal 9. 
  • Acquia Cloud was set up to provide Drupal optimized cloud hosting. The pre-configured secure environment saved a lot of development time and resources. 
  • Production issues were debugged quicker with the log streaming services and access to physical log files on servers.
  • We leveraged Acquia BLT to automate testing, building, and launching of the new website. 

Why was Acquia Site Studio chosen for development:

  • Leveraging the out-of-the-box component library, we customized 11 out of the 14 default components. Its drag and drop feature made it incredibly easy to rapidly build themed pages. 

  • We created custom ‘helper templates’ to enable in-house content authors to add and update content or make basic design changes, without coding. They could also review the template in real-time with the preview functionality.
