This platform is the front-page for Portugal´s largest private health provider, serving around 3 million visitors each month.

Here, users can access information regarding the group´s many physical locations, as well as over 3000 health professionals, allowing them to schedule appointments or search for information. The website also holds various articles and publications containing detailed information about medical conditions along with more general lifestyle and health advice.

About the project

Goals

The aim was a flexible platform that could support the creation and dissemination of knowledge regarding personal health, while also giving the user access to appointments and other services provided by the CUF brand. All this while maintaining the best possible performance, with fast search and access to any content, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Requirements

As the old website was nearing its end of life, it had become sluggish, resulting in an increased waiting time for clients. Security was also a concern, as personal health is a highly sensitive topic.

Democratized access to information was a key feature, meaning the website would have to support full translation of contents so that it would be available in both Portuguese and English versions.

Additionally, the layout should be responsive, allowing users to seamlessly view contents in any device of their choosing.

Outcome 

The end result is a fast, multi-purpose platform built specifically for the needs of the client, a place where users get quick and easy access to information ranging from medical advice to virtual tours of many of the group’s locations. A place where the company can share their brand and values with all visitors and customers alike.

Why Drupal was chosen

The project required a powerful and flexible CMS to handle the ever-evolving business needs of the client, allowing for the easy creation and management of content.

Drupal´s community modules where also a key feature, as they allow for quick development and easy deployment to the production environment. This is a great asset for stakeholders, as new requirements can quickly be met, allowing for great responsiveness to new challenges.

  • Frequent security updates 
  • No software licensing required 

Here, specially, the added security provided by Drupal’s open-source approach is a great benefit due to the sensitive nature of personal heath data.
