Sector(s)
The City and County of San Francisco hosts 200 of its web sites on a Drupal platform whose technical architecture was designed and built by Chapter Three. Chapter Three provides migration support, development and ongoing support services to the Department of Technology for the City of San Francisco.
About the project
Moving beyond a legacy system
Our first step was building a Drupal template that solved most problems and served as the foundation for a long term partnership. Next, we migrated over 100 sites to the new Drupal template ahead of schedule.
The Chapter Three Solution
We worked with the San Francisco Digital Services team and city agencies to expand a base template with new flexible, standardized designs. Our deliverables were:
โข Building a reusable template solution
โข Sites that were fully responsive to city agencies at zero cost
โข Easy deployment on centralized Blackmesh hosting environment
The city has been updating graphic design assets since this project was first deployed, so some of the visual assets have changed in that time. Chapter Three continues to provide ongoing technical support to the City as more sites are upgraded on the centralized Drupal platform.
Why Drupal was chosen
Drupal was chosen because of its support for a complex, enterprise class technical architecture; the City of San Francisco had hundreds of sites of varying sizes and platforms that needed to be moved efficiently to a unified hosting and CMS infrastructure.
