The Berardo Collection Museum (Museu Coleção Berardo) is the main Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in the country, which is a museological space of reference of modern and contemporary art, hosting the Berardo Collection, whose collection provides a presentation of the main artistic movements, punctuated by some of the biggest names of modernity as Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Piet Mondrian, Joan Miró, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Francis Bacon, Paula Rego, Yves Klein, Andy Warhol, Frank Stella, Richard Serra, Gerhard Richter, Bruce Nauman, Julião Sarmento or Gabriel Orozco.
One of the most visited museums in Portugal was founded as the House of Modern and Contemporary Art and understood the requirement to hold a modern portal based on its corporate image, serves as a powerful Marketing tool, and advertising channel to communicate with citizens and tourists of Lisbon.
About the project
The Berardo Collection Museum's new site presents itself as a unified and attractive experience for its audiences and broad content offering, without sacrificing usability or maintainability. It has new functionalities of agenda and backoffice that facilitate the work of the museum team in the management of contents.
It has a modern and functional design, where it is possible to consult more quickly and always updated all the information regarding exhibitions, news, educational service, of the Berardo collection and still providing the necessary legal and general information.
Why Drupal was chosen
The Drupal platform, being an open source web content manager (CMS), was the complete solution to their needs, since it allowed the flexibility they needed for presenting broad, diverse content. Drupal’s powerful publishing tools, extendable framework and open source licensing were also huge draws for the platform.
With this platform was possible to have a bilingual system (Portuguese and English), a responsive design, a strategy for optimizing the display of a web and mobile devices: desktop, tablet and smartphone and a powerful user management, giving full autonomy for the museum team in content management.
