Worldlabel is a Label manufacturer of Blank Labels in many different sizes, colors and materials. Worldlabel.com had an outdated design and worked on a static html site with a barebone back end shopping cart system.

Old version of Worldlabel.com

About the project

Our goals were migrating to Drupal 7, extending functionality, adding new products and further content, design renewal, and optimization for mobile devices, transitioning from a deprecated platform with our old WorldLabel.com.
An International team from USA, Vietnam and Russia worked on this project.

One of the main challenges we faced with this new version of WorldLabel was the great variety of colors, materials and properties of each label we offer. On a project on this scale, working with an existing and well developed brand, it was important that the new WorldLabel.com not be a jarring leap, but instead a graceful transformation of the WorldLabel site that customers have come to know and love.

Different materials and sizes

Project was divided by several milestones: design creation, theme developing, migration from Drupal 6 to 7, site optimization.
Milestones were divided by task and listed in Jira.

A great deal of thought, effort, and time went into developing content for the new WorldLabel.com as well; Scores of new pages and a knowledge base page provide valuable information and reference data, as well as tutorials and walkthroughs, assisting and informing customers. Despite developing a swath of new content, throughout the history of the company, a plethora of great content had accumulated, throughout the development process, the WorldLabel team strove to showcase this content in novel and appealing ways, throughout the site, visitors will find this content highlighted in thoughtful and useful ways, perhaps giving them new ideas to work with the products they purchase.

Product page

Over the course of development of this new WorldLabel.com, many interactions and navigational elements were evaluated and estimated, selecting the optimal ones for WorldLabel’s customers took some time, but in the end, we're confident that the new design caters to new and existing customer’s needs, developed according to the growing need for a site to be secure, responsive, and mobile friendly.

Why Drupal was chosen

We chose Drupal because our client was familiar with this CMS and for faster and easier migration process. Theme development was done in a short time because our team had great experience with Drupal.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

Drupal Commerce – Ecommerce functionality is at the core of the usage of this website, working with peripheral modules such as Card, Percentage, Coupon, reCAPCHA, ReOrder, and other key functionality for our customers was critical to implement, without the commerce module and the synergy it provided in conjunction with other sister modules such as those mentioned above, undoubtedly the inner structure of the function of WorldLabel would differ from the outcome we completed on the new WorldLabel.com; other requirements such as Commerce Custom Order module were required to maintain a smooth transition of order numbers from the previous framework we migrated away from. Proper implementation of Product, Pricing and Payment Commerce modules were critical as well to ensure a smooth flow of transactions for our customers.

Blocks & Views – Working in conjunction, we found that they were choice modules that complemented each other's functionality in relation to inserting copy and elements into our pages. Extensive usage of Before and After Content using the block structure on pages with dynamic content was implemented. Modules such as Views UI, and Better Exposed Filters were critical in order to ensure material and quantity selection are functional for customers to select the right product for their requirements.

Menu Editor – For business operations, for WorldLabel to function day to day, and for the site to expand further content, pages, and products, we needed to ensure clean and useful interface for our team to continue to improve WorldLabel.com, the Menu Editor module allowed us to do so.

Panels – Extensive use of panels along with Mini Panels and Stylizer modules can be found on the main page of WorldLabel and other pages with rich element and layout usage, use of these along with the aformentioned Blocks module led to a good amount of control over styling and presentation for our products and content.

Owl Carousel & Revolution Slider – In order to represent our products, templates, and other content in an attractive manner, we used these modules and elements throughout the site.

Google Analytics – Analysis of visitor data collected by embedded Google Analytics tracking bounce rate and most critically conversions to checkout process from each of our pages on WorldLabel.com is critical in order to optimize sales and direct user traffic effectively through the site, improving customer experience and navigational improvement going forward.
