Community contributions
During the development of the website, we used and tested new Drupal modules, that were on a dev version for Drupal 7 and we gave valuable feedback to the module maintainers.
Sosense supports entrepreneurs who address some of the most challenging social and environmental issues of our times. It is an intermediary platform that connects social investors with social enterprises, empowering social entrepreneurs to access capital, resources and know-how.
About the project
Sosense asked us to rebrand and re-develop their first, custom-developed, platform to improve technical scalability, usability and interaction design. The project work was familiar yet appreciatively challenging: One one side we could draw from our expertise in building community- and fundraising solutions. On the other side, Sosense was one of the first complex sites to apply Drupal 7 where many important modules where still in dev status. Testing and debugging modules like Organic Groups, Drupal Commerce and i18n, required many unexpected hours of work. The agile project management approach allowed us to tackle some of the unexpected issues with frequent releases and constant client interaction. The project was delivered on time and to the full satisfaction of our client.
Why Drupal was chosen
Drupal was evaluated as the most appropriate framework to build a scalable, community based solution.
Technical Specifications
Key modules/theme/distribution used:
Drupal Commerce was essential for the implementation of the donation processes.
Organic Groups allowed us to organise communities around the social enterprises.
Internationalization was required, as the site is built in German and English.
Rules helped us to automate specific actions throughout the site.
Zen Theme with Panels and Display suite made the life of our frontend developers much easier and helped them build a flexible layout.
