We went all out to use a mix of modules to get the best product.
SIGVARIS was established in 1864 in Winterthur, and for about 100 years, SIGVARIS produced “rubber-elastic textiles”, which it sold both in Switzerland and abroad. This Swiss company, which has been 100% family-owned since it was founded, is the global market leader in the manufacture of medical compression garments and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2014.
Amazee Labs' solutions for SIGVARIS demonstrates how tradition and medical compression garments can also be young, modern and highly flexible to suit users’ different lifestyles.

About the project
In May 2014, SIGVARIS commissioned us to redesign its corporate website and merge 14 country-specific websites into one global online platform, taking into account the requirements and characteristics of each country subsidiary.
Why Drupal was chosen
When Amazee Labs was approached by SIGVARIS they had been using Drupal already. Their product range is very diverse and their product ranges are also different in each of the countries where they operate. The initial idea was to create different Drupal sites for each country, but understandably this created a host of problems, including for the content updating, and developing of these desired sites.
This led to the conclusion that a complete redesign (not only of the concept but also of the way the client will approach their product content) was needed. The best solution for the multisite problem was to create one single Drupal site that will host their various products. SIGVARIS has 3 main products with different target markets - medical, sports & well-being:

To ensure that information is readily available when a user requires or needs it there needed to be:
- A products’ overview where all the products are mentioned in one place; and
- A specific product selector to find the exact information a user is looking for.
Additionally, we used the Domain Access module to create the different smaller sites and to allow for the option to select where a specific edit must be applied. The site is also multilingual, and as a start, we did the Global and Swiss pages first when we began developing and building it. New locations projects and languages are continuously added as it progresses.
A new functionality, a dealer-locator, has also now been added to the website, which has a global map of all SIGVARIS dealers all over the map. Users can zoom in to see distributors/points of sale.

Since the launch of the new SIGVARIS website, Amazee Labs now has a long-standing relationship with the company and we continue to provide 2nd/3rd level support.
We’ve had extremely positive feedback from the client and they are very satisfied and are continuing to expand the reach of their products by actively adding more content that will be usable by the end-user.

The Domain Access module allows for different smaller sites to be maintained, and to select where a specific edit must be applied, which reduces the amount of work for the editors. Any additional aspects, like the map, that has been added later can then just be activated for the different locations instead of having to copy & paste the content multiple times.
The new site features versatile display modes, customizable menus, and scalable information architecture, which are all key to the long-term success of the and all made possible with Drupal. The Search API also allows the visitor to specifically choose what he/she is interested in according to the SIGVARIS product line(s).
The Drupal 7-based website achieved decisive improvements in design and usability. The implementation of multilingualism across the various locations and sites to support their growing client base was significantly simplified through the Drupal Entity Translation module, which offers a very high degree of usability and shows the areas of text that have already been translated at a glance.
A fallback system ensures the display and visibility of the called-up content in another language when the content is not available in the selected language. The implementation of a country manager permission system also, in the end, enables country managers to independently adapt content flexibly and securely.
