Organizations Involved

Cumela is the leading sector organisation for businesses in agriculture, soil and infrastructure and aims to inform, connect, unburden and support. The Netherlands has more than 3,000 companies (and approximately 30,000 professionals involved) working in agriculture, soil and infrastructure. Together, these businesses realise a sector turnover of more than four billion euros while investing vigorously in productive and innovative equipment.

About the project

For Cumela, we set to work to create the perfect digital meeting place for the representation of the interests of its members and, of course, a place for advice, knowledge sharing, information and events. 

Finalist created the website including the My Environment (‘mijn Cumela’) according to the guidelines, design and wireframes made by a design agency. The old website with four sub-domains has been integrated into one domain. The project team used the Scrum method whereby feedback is processed during construction after each iteration (sprint) of two weeks. This project was completed after the preparatory phase (0-sprint) with four two-week sprints and the delivery phase. Various disciplines such as a software architect, developers, a tester, a scrum master, a designer and a consultant, together with Cumela, ensured the project’s successful realisation. The website was realised with Drupal technology: proven sustainable technology and by far the most suitable to fulfil the wishes of Cumela.

Result

The cooperation was good, partly because both Finalisters and the client worked at the same location. The two parties worked together as a real team and things were quickly discussed and decided. The result is a fantastic website that we are immensely proud of, which is both sustainable and meets all the wishes of Cumela!

Why Drupal was chosen

Cumela carried out preliminary market research in order to focus on the target group and to map out the opportunities for customer contact. A number of members/customers were interviewed as a result. This provided insight into when and why customers have contact with Cumela. Based on this, four personality types have been drawn up that represent customers that say something about their needs, goals and frustrations. Subsequently, the principles starting for the website were clearly defined, after which the building could begin.
