Nevada Land Trust (NLT), formerly Nevada Land Conservancy, is Nevada’s first independent nonprofit conservation land trust, working to protect key land, water, wildlife, recreational, historic, scenic, and agricultural resources in the state. NLT has helped to conserve more than 60,000 acres of land and associated water rights since founding in 1998. NLT holds conservation easements on working ranches, owns protected lands and has helped enlarge regional parks. Their project work has been focused primarily on Northern Nevada, with projects from the shores of Lake Tahoe to Elko, Humboldt County to Ely.
About the project
-
Initially, Nevada Land Trust (NLT) website was built with Concrete CMS; the client decided to migrate the website on Drupal platform with a redesign and new features. We have used Feeds module to simplify data migration process. We have revamped the website with Drupal 8 initially; and just before Drupal 8’s EOL; we have upgraded it to Drupal 9 without any downtime and delay.
-
In the Project section of the website, each project is displayed with a marker on Google Map. When someone clicks on the Project title; the market tooltip (Popup) will be opened.

Why Drupal was chosen
-
Drupal is a super flexible CMS compared with other CMS. Being an open source, it is available with a wide range of advanced features that can accommodate complex content models, layouts, versioning, and workflows easily.
-
Few sections of the website like Projects require customization; and Drupal is the best suited for it. Drupal 9 or later provides a custom-centric experience.
-
Security is the main concern for every client, Drupal is the perfect CMS that offers incredibly strong security capabilities.
