Several patches for Drupal Core have been provided (examples: https://www.drupal.org/node/2741945#comment-11330767, https://www.drupal.org/node/2686483). We also provided patches to modules such as SearchAPI, LinkIt, InlineEntityForm, Imagecache External, SimpleSitemap, Scheduler, Token, Facets, and Paragraphs.

Mein-schoener-garten.de is Europe's largest gardening magazine and as an online portal the counterpart to the print edition with a number of around 400,000 copies each year. The new online portal was developed using Thunder, a Drupal 8 framework distribution.

About the project

The online portal mein-schöner-garten.de contains information on gardening with various plants and a forum to exchange garden best practices but also topics such as different garden styles.

During the relaunch of this project, we migrated the data from the previous platform and implemented a complex search platform with Apache Solr.
The modern looking and the user-friendly application for all digital devices helps this magazine to be the largest garden brand in Europe, not only in print but also digitally.

In addition, the goal was to achieve a tight interlinking of content and commerce to exploit the potentials of e-commerce more significantly. This is how it works: Articles about plant novelties, garden bed tips, garden furniture or even travel impressions are linked directly to the shop. If, for example, a reader finds a planting tip, they should be able to order the required seeds or cuttings directly by clicking on the links available in the text.

Why Drupal was chosen

The Drupal 8 Distribution Thunder is being developed by Hubert Burda Media and is one of the first open source editorial systems by publishers for publishers.
