About the project

Goals:

The primary goal of the FutureX Platform project was to create a seamless, scalable eLearning platform capable of integrating with top global MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platforms such as edX, Coursera, and LinkedIn Learning. The platform aimed to offer users a unified experience with seamless access to courses while ensuring secure authentication and tracking of progress and achievements. Additionally, employers sponsoring trainees required specialized dashboards to monitor their employees' learning progress and achievements.

Requirements:

  1. MOOC Platform Integration:
    FutureX needed to integrate with leading eLearning platforms (edX, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning) to allow trainees to enroll and participate in courses directly from FutureX. This required:

    • Seamless user authentication across platforms using Single Sign-On (SSO) technology.
    • Integration of course data, scores, and achievements for real-time display on the FutureX dashboard.
       

  2. SSO and SAML Authentication:
    A key requirement was to implement Single Sign-On (SSO) for seamless access to external course platforms. The solution used SAML protocol, where FutureX acted as the Identity Provider (IDP), and MOOC platforms were the Service Providers (SP). This ensured users could directly access courses without needing to log in separately to each platform.

  3. National Login Integration (Nafath):
    FutureX also required integration with the Nafath platform for national login authentication. This allowed users to log in using their national ID, with SAML again being the chosen protocol for secure authentication. This ensured that every trainee’s identity was verified based on their national credentials.
     

  4. Employer Dashboards:
    Since many trainees were sponsored by employers, the project required dedicated dashboards for employers. These dashboards needed to provide real-time tracking of their employees' training progress, scores, and achievements.

  5. API Integration and Automation:
    The project involved significant API integration to automate the fetching of course data, including scores and achievements from external platforms, and updating them on the trainee's dashboard. This ensured that users always had up-to-date information on their progress and course completions.

Outcome:

The FutureX Platform successfully integrated with leading MOOC platforms, offering a unified eLearning experience with SSO authentication through SAML. The seamless login experience across platforms reduced friction for users, allowing them to access courses effortlessly. Integration with Nafath ensured secure national login using government-issued IDs, increasing trust and security for the platform.

The employer dashboards provided detailed reports and tracking, allowing sponsors to effectively monitor their employees’ training progress, completion rates, and achievements.

The overall outcome was a fully integrated, automated eLearning platform that meets the needs of both trainees and employers, while providing seamless access to global educational resources and maintaining secure authentication across all systems.
