Digital Polygon undertook a strategic initiative aimed at revitalizing their brand and elevating their online presence. Central to this initiative was the implementation of a scalable content management system (CMS) that would serve as the backbone for their digital strategy.

The overarching objective was clear: to provide Digital Polygon's team with a robust and adaptable CMS that would facilitate seamless interactions with their audience. This audience encompassed not only existing and potential customers but also the broader community eager to explore and gain deeper insights into the intricate world of websites and digital experiences.

By enhancing their brand and embracing a scalable CMS solution, Digital Polygon sought to achieve several key outcomes:

  1. Enhanced Brand Image: The brand refresh aimed to position Digital Polygon as a forward-thinking and authoritative player in the digital space, instilling confidence in their audience.

  2. Efficient Content Management: The new CMS would streamline content creation, publication, and management processes, allowing the team to deliver timely and relevant information effortlessly.

  3. Engagement and Education: With a focus on engagement, the website redesign aimed to foster meaningful connections with customers while serving as an educational hub for anyone interested in the latest developments in websites and digital experiences.

We also set a goal to make the new Digital Polygon website the first website launched on Pantheon's new Front-end site offering.

About the project

Project Goals:

  1. To launch a refreshed brand for Digital Polygon.
  2. To provide a content management system that allows non-technical users to create, update and manage content.
  3. To enable users to learn about Digital Polygon, hear our success stories, and learn from our thought leadership.
  4. Be the first site launched on Pantheon's new Front-end sites offering leveraging Drupal + NextJS.

Requirements:

  1. Develop a headless CMS in Drupal to support the approved designs.
  2. Leverage NextJS as the frontend to provide a robust, flexible and interactive design system.
  3. Editors should have the ability to easily preview their content updates before publishing to the website.
  4. Key content management features should be available: Workflows, Revisions, SEO optimization, Metatags, WYSWIYG, scheduled publishing, and general flexibility without our design system.

Outcomes:

  1. Increase traffic to the website.
  2. Increase leads generated by the website.
  3. Increase brand recognition.

Why Drupal was chosen

Drupal was the clear choice for our Headless CMS solution due to its outstanding content management capabilities and the substantial investment made in extending its API layer. This powerful combination not only equips us with a versatile content management system but also streamlines the process of seamlessly sharing that content with our front-end system(s).

Here's why we believe Drupal is a game-changer:

  1. Robust Content Management: Drupal boasts a track record of excellence in content management. Its new admin interface and extensive feature set empower our marketing and web teams to efficiently create, organize, and manage content, saving us valuable time and resources.

  2. API Layer: Drupal's robust API layer is where the magic happens. The substantial investment in this area ensures that our content is easily accessible and shareable across multiple channels and platforms. It provides the agility needed to deliver dynamic, personalized user experiences.

  3. Flexibility and Scalability: Drupal's versatility allows us to adapt to changing requirements and scale our web presence effortlessly. As our marketing initiatives evolve, we have confidence that Drupal can grow with us, supporting our goals every step of the way.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

Paragraphs/Metatag/Real-time SEO for Drupal:

We chose these modules because the provided us with extended content management capabilities that are critical to our success.

  • Paragraphs: Paragraphs is a powerful content modeling framework that enables us to build reusable components/data structures which we can easily expose to our frontend application. These allow us to have the flexibility we need in our content model while providing a easy to use interface for content managers.
  • Metatag: Metatag provides robust metatag configurations/management for exposing critical metadata to the page which helps us extend our reach/visibility to search engines and social platforms.
  • Real-time SEO for Drupal: The Yoast module provides our content editors with a tool that helps us ensure the content we write is optimized for SEO and helps us write better, more findable content.

JSON:API, JSON:API Image Styles, JSON:API Extras, Decoupled Preview, Pantheon Decoupled

These modules provide us with a robust toolset for our Headless CMS implementation. The JSON:API suite gave us plug and play integrations into JSON:API to expose the information our front-end needed. The Pantheon Decoupled module gave us the ability to easily integrate into Pantheon's front-end sites for configuring and extending our front-end preview functionality. This gives content editors the ability to preview their content in our NextJS front-end before it is published.
