Supporting a strong web presence to empower homeless youth.

Covenant House International has helped millions of homeless, runaway, and trafficked youth for more than 40 years. Driven by a mission to treat young people with respect and unconditional love, their online presence is an integral part of the fundraising that enables them to do more good.

The Problem

Covenant House is doing important work across the Americas to help young people transform their lives and put them on a path to independence. Their international work to fight youth homelessness spans 31 cities — working with a network of youth shelters to give refuge to homeless, abused, and trafficked kids, and set them up with a hopeful future. Like many nonprofits, their unwavering commitment and dedication to their cause goes beyond a full-time job. Their staff’s investment in the lives of the kids they work with is what makes an impact; but, it means they’re stretched thin when it comes to marketing and promotion.

The Covenant House team was faced with a need to make iterative updates to their Drupal 8 website, to keep up with their marketing goals. They also had a larger infrastructure change that would impact the website at an integration level. With an amazing vision, hefty goals, and growing organizational needs, they needed a digital presence that made a big impact.

About the project

The Solution

With our deep level of support, nimble process, and strategic approach, Kanopi was a natural fit to partner with Covenant House. Taking a relationship-first approach to all our projects, we easily and quickly started working with their team to identify quick wins and long term goals.

Working with their existing code, we made key updates to integrations and the donation process on the site. This process and page is integral to not only the site, but the organization’s overall success. Our improvements resulted in Covenant House breaking the seasonal giving records they’d set internally.

As the impact of Covid-19 hit the globe in early 2020, many of Covenant House’s in-person events were canceled, putting even more emphasis on the need for a strong digital presence. Homeless youth are more in need than ever, and we’re committed to working with the organization to amplify their message. Supported by the new website functionality and our continued partnership, we’re continuously working with them on a more informative content strategy and engaging UX.

Key Features

Donation UX integrations

Updates to integrations and donation processes took priority, achieving and surpassing seasonal fundraising benchmarks.

Website Growth Plan

A detailed roadmap of continued growth and success helps guide the organization’s mission-centric website goals through digital transformation.

The Result

With the website updates made in Q3 of 2019, and a digital push for end-of-year giving, Covenant House’s online presence took off. The improvements to functionality and donation process allowed for record-breaking donations to support at-risk youth.
