About ABI
The American Bankruptcy Institute is the nation’s largest association of bankruptcy professionals, made up of over 12,000 members in multi-disciplinary roles, including attorneys, auctioneers, bankers, and judges. Founded in 1982, ABI plays a leading role in providing congressional leaders and the general public with non-partisan reporting and analysis of bankruptcy regulations, laws and trends.
40under40 is a division of ABI that recognizes 40 outstanding individuals under the age of 40 for their exceptional ability, leadership, and accomplishments within the bankruptcy and insolvency field.
About the project
Project Overview

The website was running on Drupal 7 and ABI wanted to upgrade it to Drupal 10.

The website design was also needed to be improved to follow the modern trend.

The website had many custom modules for the nomination process, grading, reviewing and selecting the winners, which were needed to be migrated to Drupal 10.

It was also required to migrate all the historical data from Drupal 7 to Drupal 10.
Our Approach

User Roles: We implemented a system with three distinct user roles—Candidates, Graders, and ABI Staff—ensuring each has appropriate access and permissions within the site.

Candidate Nominations: Our solution enabled candidates to self-nominate or nominate others for consideration, streamlining the nomination process.

Grading System: We developed a grading system that allows graders to evaluate candidates based on documents and information submitted during the application process.

Staff Review: ABI Staff can now review grader evaluations and access auto-generated reports for each candidate, improving efficiency and accuracy.

Data Migration: We successfully migrated historical data, including candidate applications and grades from 2017 onward, from the existing Drupal site to the new system.

Application Distribution: Applications are dynamically and evenly distributed to graders, ensuring balanced workloads.

Grading Flexibility: Our solution allows graders the flexibility to skip, edit, or complete reviews of applications up until a set deadline.

Report Generation: We automated the calculation of results and generation of reports based on grader evaluations, providing clear, actionable insights.
Why Drupal was chosen
The website was already built on Drupal 7 and ABI wanted to migrate it to Drupal 10. We helped them to move to Drupal 10 with an improved design.
